Electricians Bellevue Hill FAQs

Answers to what Bellevue Hill homeowners ask most before they book, on pricing, licensing, timing and the local housing stock. Call (02) 9139 8011 if yours isn't covered below.

Common questions

Money, Quotes and the $50 Off

Do prices change once you start?

No. The figure you sign off on before we start is the figure on the invoice, even if the job takes longer than planned. If something genuinely unexpected turns up, we stop, explain it, and get your go-ahead before touching it.

How do quotes work?

One of our electricians comes to look at the job, then writes the price down before anything gets touched. You can take that figure away and think about it, there's no pressure to sign on the spot.

How do I pay?

Nothing changes hands until the job is finished and tested. Payment options get explained at quote stage, and the amount you pay matches what was written down, to the dollar.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

A quote costs you nothing, whether or not you go ahead with the work. Getting us out to look never puts you out of pocket.

Common questions

Safety, Standards and Paperwork

What is a safety switch (RCD) and do I need one?

Electricians call it an RCD, and its job is to cut the circuit almost instantly if current starts escaping to earth where it shouldn't. Grand old Bellevue Hill homes still running an original ceramic fuse board are usually the ones missing this protection, and it's the first thing we check.

What is AS/NZS 3000?

AS/NZS 3000 is the rulebook, covering cable sizes, circuit protection and how a switchboard has to be built. Every job we finish gets tested against it, and the paperwork we hand over is proof it passed.

Are you licensed and insured?

Fully. NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C sits alongside our Master Electricians Australia membership, and neither is something you have to take our word for.

Can I do my own electrical work in NSW?

It's against the law here, full stop, past changing a light globe or a plug top. Get it wrong and you're not just risking a shock, you're risking your home insurance if something goes wrong later.

Common questions

Response Times and Booking

What counts as an electrical emergency?

Burning smells, visible sparking, a safety switch that won't reset, or power that's dropped out with no clear cause. Any of those means turn it off at the switchboard if you can reach it safely, then call us straight away.

How fast can you get here?

Bellevue Hill sits inside our regular Eastern Suburbs run, so standard bookings rarely wait long and genuine emergencies jump the queue entirely. Ring (02) 9139 8011 and we'll give you an honest window, not a vague promise.

How soon can you fit me in?

Often same or next day for a standard booking, though it depends what's already on the board that week. We'd rather tell you the real wait than guess and let you down.

How do I book?

Phone (02) 9139 8011. A real person picks up, no automated menu, and can lock in a time before you hang up.

Common questions

The Bellevue Hill Questions

What suburbs do you service?

Bellevue Hill plus Double Bay, Rose Bay, Woollahra, Dover Heights, Vaucluse and Edgecliff, all on our regular rounds. If your street isn't listed, ask when you call.

Do you know Bellevue Hill's housing stock?

The suburb's Federation homes mostly date from a 1910 to 1930 building boom, grand houses on big blocks that were never wired for modern loads. We see original fuse-based boards in these houses more than almost anywhere else on our books.

Why do Bellevue Hill's older homes need switchboard upgrades?

A board built for a handful of light circuits now has to run kitchens, home offices, pool equipment and ducted air conditioning. That mismatch is what trips switches or leaves a board running warm. Swapping it for a modern board with RCBOs on every circuit is usually the fix.

How local are you, really?

We're through Bellevue Hill and the rest of Woollahra on a regular run, not flying in from across the city for one job. That's what lets us give you a real arrival window instead of a guess.
